Jan Pedersen is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Law, Aarhus University, where he has served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in criminal law and, from 1994 to 2021, as Professor of Tax Law. He has extensive teaching experience in the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Master of Business Law (cand.merc.jur.) programs, and he is widely engaged in teaching courses and delivering lectures for public authorities, lawyers, auditors, and other professionals.
Jan Pedersen has also worked as a practicing attorney with rights of audience before the High Court and has substantial practical experience from advisory and responsive work for professional tax advisers.

Jan Pedersen has participated in numerous legislative preparatory committees and ministerial working groups. He has served as a member and chairman of the Nordic Tax Research Council, is Chairman of the Tax Litigation Fund (Skattesagsfonden), and was Editor-in-Chief of Karnov’s Statutory Collection from 1995 to 2017.
In 2019, Jan Pedersen was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor by Lund University, Sweden, in recognition of his research on tax speculation and his contributions to Nordic tax law scholarship.
Jan Pedersen is the author of numerous textbooks and reference works, including Tax Exploitation (doctoral dissertation), Tax Law 1 and 2, Tax and Duties Criminal Law, Tax Administration – Tax Procedure – Tax Control, and Transfer Pricing – in an International Tax Law Perspective.
In addition, he has authored a large number of scholarly articles on tax law and criminal law topics in Danish and international academic journals.
